Total was a retrospective in the Arnhem Museum of Modern Art: the route through the museum rooms was determined by all the works that were made during the last ten years: paintings, drawings, videos, sculptures and installations.
"Total is a retrospective, but at the same time, because of the auction, shows the current working methods of Hester Oerlemans. She puts up for sale all her work at rock bottom prizes. They are once in a lifetime prizes for one day only: Sunday June 2nd 2002. Over eighty paintings and one hundred drawings, various ceramic sculptures, screen prints and objects that are part of installations will be sold by auction that day, starting from the target prizes listed with the works."
In total about 280 works were auctioned and sold.
