Game tables

Leek (2005)
Commissioned by: De Tweesprong / SKOR
Location: De Tweesprong, Leek
Size: Varies
Material: Billiard table, pool table, soccer table, air hockey table, display table, prints on wood, lexane, bookshelves, lamps and chairs.

Hester Oerlemans placed some tables with prints on them of 24 different games like Ludo, Monopoly, Cluedo, Obstruction, draughts and chess in the recreation room; they are games that were chosen together with the children.
Beside that, 4 real game tables were put in the room: a pool table, a billiard table, a soccer table and an air hockey table. The game tables are covered with a thick transparent plastic cover, through which the games remain visible. The tables can also be used as real game tables.
The transparent covers can be removed and the children can play table soccer, air hockey, pool etc. Hanging over the large game tables are green, red and blue lamps that remind strongly of lamps hanging over pool tables.
The fifth table is a display table meant for use as an exhibition space, allowing children to display their collections. Working areas can be created by moving the mobile bookshelves in such a way a 'flexible' partition appears. Nine different coloured chairs intensify the surprising character of the room.
